	Dec 23, 2006 Just a Sleigh Ride Away Post to the STICKWIRE-L listserve Altogether now in the key of E, let's sing the very old and scary Christmas carol: S II: 4/4 #### You'd better watch out, you'd better not cry, you'd better not pout, I'm telling you why... Why? Who's coming? What kind of "sleigh"? Will it be gifts or coals? How can such a "judgement eve" happen everywhere all at once? And finally, how will you prepare? Life is in some sense eternal. It doesn't just reel by over a lifetime and then run off the reel. At some future point it could become so thoroughly "archived" that ones entire life experience and consciousness would somehow be accessible to visitors and browsers. In that sense, ones life would be permanent, more like a piece of real estate than a cut off time span. At that point, travellers will then come back to visit your life and your mind. You'll have title deed to your fixed piece of property on the time line. And you'll be there too, to greet them and take them on guided tours. Better keep your site clean. Better not mess on it. Better not shout or even threaten. Best to stay harmless. In summary, you'd better not flout, I've told you why! Just a sleigh ride away, Emmett.
